George F. Nagel, age 73 of Richville, Minnesota passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo, North Dakota after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 beginning at 11:00 AM at the Richville United Methodist Church, Richville, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Richville Village Cemetery.
George was born on August 18, 1939, the son of Fred and Grace (Krull) Nagel. He grew up with five sisters. He attended school in George, Iowa. He met the love of his life, Donna Larsen in 1959 and they were married that same year in Luverne, Minnesota. They started their life together in George, Iowa but moved to the Richville area in 1964. He had various jobs including dairy farming, trucking, Sauck Centre Feeder Pig Telo-Auction. They built their log home with their family on Dead Lake while George was the owner of the Red-Bar-N and was employed at R.D. Offutt Potato Farms for 22 years. His past adventures were in Ice Racing, snomobiling, the Shooting Stars snowmobile club, fun times at triangle dance club, square dancing, roller-skating, and bowling league, camping, fishing, woodworking, and traveling. He belonged to the Richville United Methodist Church and was involved with fundraising, benefits, entertainment programs with the Gospel Bluegrass Festival being his favorite. He loved his family dearly and will be sadly missed.
Surviving George is his wife of 54 years, Donna; his daughter, Georgia Nagel (Jeff Utke) of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; his son, David (Barb Torgerson) of Richville, Minnesota; his daughter, Michelle (Curt) Bond of Perham, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters, Marjorie Stoehr of Grundy Center, Iowa, Jane (Larry) Coe of Ventura , Iowa, and Shirley (Arnold) Wallinga of Hull, Iowa; mother-in-law, Bessie Larsen of Perham, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Ronald Larsen of Moorhead, Minnesota along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding George in death are his parents; two sisters, Valoris Bathke and Mavis Nagel; three brothers-in-law, Daryl Johnson, Gary Stoehr, and Gilbert Bathke; and father-in-law, Donald Larsen.
