George C. Ford, age 81, of Perham, MN, formerly Plymouth, MN, and Ottertail, MN, died on Thursday, October 4, 2007, in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2007, at 11:00 am in St. John's Lutheran Church, Ottertail, with Reverend Karl Weber officiating. Burial will follow in the Perham Village Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 7, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services at the church.
George Cordia Ford was born November 11, 1925, in Deepwater, MO, the son of Burly and Nellie (Thomas) Ford. He was one of nine children. On December 13, 1958, George was united in marriage to Dorothy Benson in Norwood, IA. He worked as a plumber under Local Union #15. George was also a WW II Navy Veteran and liked spending time at the lake, fishing, and hunting.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy, Perham, MN; daughters, Rosalie (Lonnie) Cutshaw, Amsterdam, MO; and Diana (Danny) Dickerson, Jacksonville, FL; sons, Greg (Edie) Ford, St. Louis Park, MN; and Randy (Shaney) Ford, Davenport, IA; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Beardsley and Esther Ford, both of Minneapolis, MN; and a brother, Roy Ford, Smithville, MO.
Preceding George in death are his parents and five brothers and sisters.
