Galen Schultz

Galen Schultz, age 67, of Perham, MN passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Astera Health, in Wadena, MN. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 9 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will resume beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 10 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Galen Melvin Schultz was born August 24, 1955, in Perham, the son of Melvin and Henrietta (Jasmer) Schultz. Galen was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was confirmed there in 1969. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School through the eighth grade and graduated from Perham High School in 1973. After high school, Galen graduated from pharmacy school at NDSU in 1978. On May 28, 1977, Galen was united in marriage to Diane Graff at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, MN. Galen and Diane opened Schultz Drug in Bertha, MN in 1979 and together they operated the drug store for 31 years until their retirement.

Galen was a volunteer on the Bertha Ambulance and Bertha Fire Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School, confirmation, and was an ACT leader. Galen enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids. He liked to hunt, fish, play cards, take care of his garden, and he always looked forward to the annual family fishing trip in Canada.

Preceding Galen in death were his parents; his parents-in-law Al and Priscilla Graff; and his brother-in-law Jerry Bernstrom.

Surviving Galen are his wife of 45 years, Diane Schultz; his children Chris (Kristi) Schultz and Tracy (Jeff) Brown; his grandchildren Katie Schultz, Ashley Schultz, Avalee Brown, and Bryce Brown; his sister Eileen Bernstrom; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
