Frank Sczygiel, age 85, of Perham, MN, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2007, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 1, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Frank was born January 12, 1922, the son of Alois and Anna (Walkowski) Sczygiel, in Perham, MN. On November 26, 1946, he was united in marriage to Cecilia Schornack at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham. Cecilia died March 27, 2001. Frank served in the US Army during WW II with Company A 62nd Signal Battalion, serving during the Occupation of Japan. Upon returning, he worked at the Perham Creamery and then with the City of Perham from 1952 until retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Catholic Aid Society, Life Member of VFW Post 4020, Perham Fire and Rescue Department for twenty-seven years, and with Perham City Council for four years.
Frank is survived by four daughters, Kathy (Joe) Hemmelgarn, Perham, MN; Marge (Barry) Hansen, Perham, MN; Sue (Lowell) Baumgart, Frazee, MN; and Rose (Lawrence) Suchy, Urbank, MN; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Delores (Bill) Swanson, Perham, MN; Katy (Gordon) Kaatz, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and Laverne Talaska, Columbus, IN.
Preceding Frank in death are his parents; wife, Cecilia; sons, Adam and Jerome; brothers, Ed Sczygiel and John Dombeck; sisters, Monica and Regina Sazama, Martha Dulski, and Caroline Wahl.
