Evelyn Violet Warner, age 80, of Perham, MN, died on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Perham Memorial Home after battling cancer for many years. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2006, in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Butler, MN, at 11:00 am with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, at the Perham Memorial Home from 1:30 - 2:30 in their chapel and at Holy Cross Church from 4:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm and also one hour prior to services.
Evelyn was born March 13, 1926, the daughter of Roy and Cora (Stewart) Hoehne in Evergreen Township, Becker County, MN. She attended country school. For two years she worked as a domestic helper and for three years she worked at St. James Hospital in Perham. Evelyn married William F. Warner, Jr., on October 2, 1945, in Holy Cross Church, Butler. Together they farmed in Butler Township for 61 years. The past two and a half years, Evelyn has resided at the Perham Memorial Home.
Evelyn enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, birdwatching, genealogy, four wheeling, crocheting, tatting, camping, and traveling. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. She liked trying new things and shot her first deer in her retirement. At 60+ years of age, she taught herself to play the keyboard and entertained residents at area nursing homes for several years. After becoming a resident of the nursing home, Evelyn even learned to use a computer and enjoyed emailing friends and relatives. She also enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a card club for several years. Evelyn was also a member of the Holy Cross Christian Mothers and taught catechism.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, William Jr., Perham, MN; daughter, Sylvia (Maynard) Falk, New York Mills, MN; son, William III (Connie) Warner, New York Mills, MN; grandchildren, William IV and Macailia Warner, New York Mills, MN; sisters, Phyllis Powers, Shakopee, MN; and Jeannette (Norman) Jorgenson, Frazee, MN; brothers, Gilbert (Mitsuko) Hoehne, Perham, MN; and Kenneth (Avis) Hoehne, Frazee, MN; brothers-in-law, Melvin Greiff, Perham, MN; and Howard Latvala, Bemidji, MN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Joyce; granddaughter, Cheryl Falk; sisters, Dorothy Greiff, June Latvala, Marlene Hoehne, and Lorraine Anderson; and brother-in-law, Verner W. Anderson.
