Evelyn Priebe

May 24, 1941 — July 2, 2020

Perham, MN

Evelyn Marie Priebe died July 2, 2020, at Fallbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lincoln, NE. She was born on May 24, 1941, to Martin and Mary (Truitt) Schoeneberger in Perham, MN, the third of seven children. She attended St. Henry’s Catholic School and graduated from Perham High School in 1959. She completed nurses training at St Mary’s in Rochester in 1961. While working at St. Ansgar Hospital in Fargo, ND, she met and married the love of her life, Alan Priebe, on December 29, 1962. They had three children. They lived in Fargo, West Fargo, Harwood, Australia, and Colorado before settling in Perham in 1978. Evelyn lived in Perham until moving to Lincoln, NE in 2019 after being diagnosed with dementia.

Evelyn lived a life devoted to her family and her faith. Raising her children and being active at St. Henry’s in the Catholic Daughters kept her busy. Evie and Al enjoyed travel with friends and family and took many trips around the country and to Mexico. During Al’s battle with cancer, Evie devoted herself completely to his care.

Evie’s greatest joy by far came in the role of grandmother. She was the best Nanny to Leah, Aaron, Max, Kelsey, Rachel, Camryn, Jackson, Emma, and Chloe. She loved attending sporting events, music recitals, plays, concerts - any event where she could be the biggest fan. She always had a freezer stocked with treats and some cash to slip the kids when she thought parents weren’t looking. She loved becoming a great-grandmother to Anthony, Aksel, Hallie, and Matthias.

Evelyn is survived by her children Bob (Mara) Priebe of Perham; Cindi (Darren) Appert of Fergus Falls, MN and Patti (Dave) Schumacher of Lincoln, NE; her sisters Agatha (Bob) Woessner of NC, Judy Schoeneberger of Moorhead, MN, and Jeanne (Will) Nelson of New Brighton, MN; her brother-in-law Larry (Connie) Priebe of Austin, MN; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alan; grandson Aaron Priebe; sisters Margaret Schoeneberger and Rose Marie Prietzel; and her brother Joseph Schoeneberger.
