Esther Schave

Funeral services for Esther A. Schave, age 91, of Perham, MN, will be Friday, July 9, 2004, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Perham, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Terry Grzybowski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2004, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Esther died at her home, Monday, July 5, 2004.



Esther Amalia Emma Matz was born on March 23, 1913, the daughter of Emil and Amalia (Steeke) Matz, of Pine Lake Township, rural Perham, MN. She was baptized April 27, 1913, and confirmed April 18, 1926 at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, rural Perham, MN. Esther married Irvin Schave on June 27, 1939 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Corliss. Together, they farmed in Corliss Township from 1939 to 1970. At that time, they moved to Perham where she and Irvin served as custodians at St. Paul?s Church and School for several years. Esther moved to Briarwood, in Perham, in May of 2001.



Preceding Esther in death are her husband, Irvin; a son, Dennis; her parents, Emil and Amalia and two brothers, Edwin Matz and Clarence Matz.



Esther is survived by three children, Karen (Buster) Meyer and Larry (Barb) Schave, both of Perham, MN and Leane (James) Hewitt, of Inver Grove Heights, MN; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Rosen , Lenora Hartwig and Elsie (Roy) Martin, all of Perham, MN; one sister-in-law, Leona Matz and her aunt, Emma vonProschwitz, also of Perham, MN.
