Esther was born on a farm near Deer Creek, MN on Nov. 12, 1922, the only child to Erick and Martha (Eaton) Edholm. Her parents knew, at a very young age, that Esther was going to be a teacher just like her mother. After graduating from Deer Creek High School, Esther pursued her career of being a teacher. She began teaching school in 1941 in one and two room schoolhouses in the Deer Creek area. She also taught all 8 grades at Finland one room school – which later became a two room school. In 1958 Finland opened their new school and she became principal and teacher.
Esther married Stanley Berry on January 22, 1944. They had one son, Eddy. When Esther and Stan retired they returned to the Richville area until she moved to Cambridge Assisted Living in April 2010 to be near Eddy and his wife Diane. In July of 2011 she moved to the Cambridge Nursing Home.
Esther enjoyed gardening, painting, cake decorating, quilting, knitting, and many other crafts. She was active in 4-H in her young years and was a 4-H leader when in Finland. She was always very active in her church and enjoyed doing what she could do for the church and community.
She is survived by her son Eddy (Diane) Berry of East Bethel, MN.
