Ervin Sand

October 8, 1930 — October 25, 2007

Ervin J. "Bud" Sand, age 77, of Dent, MN, ascended into the hands of God on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at MeritCare, Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 9:00 am in St. James Catholic Church, Maine, MN, with Father Paul Folsom officiating. An additional memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ervin Joseph "Bud" Sand was born October 8, 1930, in Buckman, MN, the son of Frank and Catherine (Bedner) Sand. Ervin was united in marriage to Virginia Peterson on April 21, 1956, at St. James Catholic Church, Maine, Minnesota. He served in the US Army as a First Sergeant and was promoted to Lieutenant in the Combat Artillery Core. He was honorably discharged in June 1960. Ervin was a skilled craftsman, business entrepreneur, builder and designer, decorated soldier, accomplished outdoorsman, and most of all a beloved husband, father, and grandfather to his family. Everyone that Ervin touched will remember his magnetic smile, joviality, and creative sense of humor.

Our family would like to extend our gratitude to the Perham Ambulance Service, Perham Memorial Hospital, and the staff at the MeritCare Hospitals in Fargo, North Dakota, for their professional and compassionate care of our father during the past days.

Ervin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia; their six children, Mark (Judy), Brian (Lisa), John, Philip (Virginia), Michelle (Jerry) Baus, and Melissa Sand; grandchildren, Zachary, Brian, Christina, Nicole, Kevin, Paige, Kristopher, Kasey, Zachary, Neal, Michael, Will, Chris, and Nick; and four great grandchildren.

Preceding Ervin in death are his parents; son, Daniel; four brothers; and two sisters.
