Elmer was born on May 10, 1927, in Greenwald, MN, the son of Henry and Alvina (Humbert) Winter. Elmer was drafted into the Navy in May of 1945. He served in Word War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in May of 1967.
On May 30, 1956, Elmer was united in marriage to Eleanor Palubicki. He was employed with the Honeywell company from 1967-1971 and for TuffyA�A�A½s Pet Food from 1971-1987.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Eleanor; five children, Mike Winter of Hermosa, CA; Yvonne (Marcel) Lepage of Fargo, ND; Mark (Dawn) Winter of Perham, MN; Greg (Colleen) Winter of Braham, MN; and Jean (Brad) Satter of Dent, MN; grandchildren, Julia and Don Hoffert of Wyndmere, ND; Brady and Sara Winter of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kari Satter of Wapheton, ND; Randee and Cris Barstad of Germany; Kayla Satter of Dent, MN; Scott Lepage of Fargo, ND; Jaimie Winter of Braham, MN; Jenna Winter of Braham, MN; and Erin Winter of Perham, MN; great-grandchild, Eden Hoffert; and three sisters, Kathleen (Bob) Mayer; Mary (Bruce) Moe; and Diane (Roger) Bachmann; also surviving Elmer is his dog, Ivan.
Preceding Elmer in death are his parents, Henry and Alvina.
