Elizabeth Ann "Tootie" Klein Adams of Richville, MN, 92, passed away on June 28, 2014 at the Perham Health Hospital, Perham, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11am, July 3, 2014 in the United Methodist Church of Richville, MN with Pastor Rod Tornquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Richville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on July 2, 2014 at the Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Tootie was born on November 28, 1921, the daughter of Walter and Sarah (Helmberger) Klein, Sr. She was one of seven children. Tootie worked in the family business, Klein's Resort on Marion Lake as she grew up. She wed Burl "Bud" Adams, Jr. on February 6th, 1946 after 5 years of waiting while Bud was overseas fighting in WWII. They farmed and lived on Dead Lake, raising 3 children together. Tootie continued to live on the farm until her passing.
Tootie's favorite pastime was gardening. She always had a large vegetable garden, but truly loved her flowers. Tootie was one of the founders of the Lady Slipper Garden Club and continued as honorary member for life. She won many ribbons on floral design and her flowers at garden shows. She continued to nurture her flower gardens to the end. She loved visits from her grandkids who always picked flowers for her and she always had treats ready for them. Grandma did a lot of babysitting and loved it.
Tootie worked several years at the Richville Senior Center as head of the sewing department, creating many beautiful quilts, table cloths, dish towels and rugs.
Tootie is survived by her 3 children, Carolyn (Dennis) Reynolds, Michael Adams and Linda (Howard) Lee, and 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Also surviving Tootie is her sister, Bernice Rosenthal of New York Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; brothers; Walter Klein Jr., Albert, Pete; and 2 sisters; Helen Adams, Rosemary Harrison and granddaughter, Michelle Bielejeski.
