Eleanor "Ellie" Mary Zeller was born March 24, 1928, in Perham, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Walkowski) Zeller. She graduated from Perham High School and on April 10, 1950, was united in marriage to Frank Hammers in Minneapolis, MN. Together they had five children. Ellie enjoyed being active at St. Henry's which included the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Daughters. Her other hobbies included quilting, painting, and gardening, and she was a world class cook!
On September 29, 2007, our dear wife and mother entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on the Feast of the Archangels after a 28 month battle with cancer. Ellie died just as she lived - in peace and with a complete focus on God. She viewed her suffering as a special grace given to her by God. She offered all of her trials, prayers, sacrifices, and humble activities to God in order to obtain spiritual graces for many people; those unknown to her as well as for those she loved.
Ellie is survived by her husband, Frank, Perham, MN; sons, Patrick (Cheryl) Hammers, Fairbanks, AK; and Gregory (Cheryl) Hammers, Redwood Falls, MN; daughters, Cynthia (John) Naughton, Fargo, ND; Mary (Irv) Hines, Andover, MN; and Valerie (Brad) Haas, Parker, CO; one sister, Helen Mozey, Minneapolis, MN; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Preceding Ellie in death are her parents; sisters, Blondine Spilaine, Irene Kimmes, and Lorraine Kunza; and brothers, Donald and John Zeller.
