Elaine Marie (Doll) Johnson, age 98, joined the choir of angels in Heaven on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Perham Living.
Elaine was born to Anthony and Ida (Kollman) Doll on September 12, 1922 at Rush Lake. She was the youngest of four children. As a child Elaine attended country school in Rush Lake and graduated from Perham High School in 1940.
Elaine met the love of her life Andrew J. Johnson at a church social. They were married October 8, 1940 at St. Lawrence Church in Rush Lake. Andy and Elaine raised their five children on a farm in Corliss Township near Perham. In 1979 they retired from farm living and moved to town spending the rest of their days as city folk.
Throughout her years she provided loving childcare to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also worked for the Perham School District and enjoyed seeing her grandchildren while at work. Andy and Elaine stayed busy with gardening, canning, taking country rides looking for deer, ice fishing, visiting their children, and getting the occasional Dairy Queen treat.
Elaine's family was the center of her world and she was invested in being the best mother and grandmother possible. She was an impeccable host, always concerned with those around her and was not comfortable unless she had offered food, drink, candy or if needed, the shirt off her back. She gave all she could and found great satisfaction in serving others.
Elaine gave unconditional and unending love to all of her family, expecting nothing in return. She reminded everyone that her family was her most cherished possession and she couldn't imagine life without them.
A strong German woman, full of life, faith, hope and love. She was a beacon of light for all to admire. Her life was grounded in her abiding faith, guiding her every moment. Her daily prayers served as a constant reminder of her commitment to the Lord.
Elaine is survived by one daughter, Connie (Joe) Sczygiel, three sons, John (Anna) Johnson, Ron (Fran) Johnson, Randy (Peggy) Johnson, all of Perham, and son-in-law, Stanley Malikowski of Frazee. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
