Edna was born June 18, 1938 in Fergus Falls, MN to Elmer and Doris (Marsh) Huffman. Edna grew up in rural Henning, MN graduating from Henning High School in 1956. In August 1958, she was married to Dale H. Kawlewski. Together they operated the Kawlewski family farm near Dent, MN until Dale’s death in 1983.
After Dale’s death, Edna worked several jobs including many years as a ward clerk at Perham Memorial Hospital. In 2002, she met and married Albert R. Holmquist. They shared many wonderful years of fun together. They bought 4-wheelers and burned up the trails at the farm. Edna enjoyed traveling and exploring our great country with Albert.
She was a warm, playful, fun lady with a wonderful sense of humor and a quiet inner strength. Anyone spending time with her had much laughter and warmth. She loved much and was loved much by everyone who knew her. Edna loved the farming industry and later in life became a crop census taker for the US Department of Agriculture, which she loved. In her twilight years, she and Albert enjoyed spending time together as they traveled the area measuring crop yields.
Edna is survived by her husband Albert; sisters-in-law Joyce Biegler and Pearl Radueg; brothers-in-law Carl Holmquist and Benjamin Holmquist; her children Darla (Bryan) Wendland; Ronni (Alisha) Kawlewski, Josie, Jenna and Jessica; and Michael (Naomi) Kawlewski, Nathan and Elayna; Albert’s children Bert (Lana) Holmquist; Julie (Sheldon) Larson; Kelly (Judy) Holmquist; Tammy (CJ) McCray; and Heidi (Nick) Spoelstra; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
