Edmond DuWayne "Duke" Savoie, age 68, of Richville, MN, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at SCCI Hospital, Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 1:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, with Chaplain Tim Bauer officiating. Burial will be in the Perham Village Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm and also one hour prior to the service.
Edmond, "Duke", was born the son of Edmond and Leone (Jensen) Savoie on March 21, 1938, in Redwood Falls, MN. He moved with his family throughout Minnesota and to other states before returning to MN where he graduated from Richfield, MN, High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Virginia Boekhoff on September 19, 1957. He enlisted into the US Air Force and served for over two years. Following his medical discharge, they moved to Perham where they owned and operated Bonanza Beach Resort on Big Pine Lake from 1970 - 1979. He also worked in sales for Ely Walker, Dickies, Eureka, and other companies. He moved to Texas for a short time and then to Richville, MN.
Duke is survived by a daughter, Lori (Andy) Rollag, Gary, MN; three sons, Kevin (Cindy) Savoie, NE; Darrin (Julie) Savoie, Osakis, MN; and Scott (LeAnn Lange) Savoie, Lake Mills, IA; two sisters, Marilyn (Russ) Adams, Ottertail, MN; and Judy Savoie, Coon Rapids, MN; three brothers, Gordon Savoie, Burnsville, MN; Dean (Cheryl) Savoie and Layne (Sandra) Savoie both of San Leon, TX; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eldon.
