E.C. Rice, age 75, of Richville, MN, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 14, 2012 under the care of Lakeland Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 beginning at 1:00 pm at the Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham, MN with Father George Michael officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Richville Village Cemetery, Richville, MN.
"Rice" was born on April 21, 1936, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Martin and Angeline (Kipp) Rice. Angeline died when he was very young so Alma Rice became the mother he knew for his life. "Rice" entered the United States Marine Corps on July 29, 1954 and was honorably discharged in May of 1957. On August 1, 1959, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gloria Sporsic, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Little Canada, MN. In his spare time, "Rice" enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, and dancing.
Surviving "Rice" are his children, Rick (Hope Wolford) Rice of New York Mills, MN; Lisa (Duane) Thalmann of Perham, MN; Theresa Wick of New York Mills, MN; Tina (Perry) Becker of Perham, MN; and Steve Prax of Little Falls, MN; his brothers, Glen (Lois) Rice; and Francis Rice; 15 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren and his cat, Crackers.
Preceding "Rice" in death is his bride, Gloria; his parents; and his grandson, Danny Rice.
