Dorothy Sjostrom

Dorothy Jane (Johnson) Sjostrom, age 89 of Perham, MN passed away on June 30, 2020 at Perham Living.  Dorothy was one of eight children born to Frank and Ruby (Higgley) Johnson.

Dorothy met her sweetheart Axel “Buster” Sjostrom and they were married in 1950.  Their marriage was blessed with five children Valerie, Jenny, Mickey, Rickey “Sam”, and Sheila.   The family lived in Lake Park, IA until they moved to a farm they had purchased south of Osage, MN in 1972.  They farmed until her beloved “Buster” passed away suddenly in 2000.  Dorothy and “Sam” then moved to Perham.

Dorothy was known as a great cook and baker sharing some of the best food around!   She also had a knack for gardening. Hard work was her mantra and she especially enjoyed doing her share of the farm chores. But it was her son “Sam” who her world revolved around.  Dorothy took great care of her special son.

Dorothy and her spunkiness will be greatly missed by her family.  Mom don’t worry we will take care of your beloved Kubota lawn mower. We will always love you.

Dorothy is survived by her children Valerie (Jim) Woodrum, Jenny Windshitl, “Sam” Sjostrom, and Sheila Ojala; ten grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Buster; son Mickey; son-in-law Dave Nybo; and grandson Toby Windels.

Private family visitation will be on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham, MN.  Interment will take place at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park, Iowa.
