Donald C. Weickert, of Perham, MN, passed away on June 21, 2012, surrounded by his family, caregivers, and loving wife, at the age of 86 years, at Perham Living.
Donald Charles Weickert was born October 6, 1925, to Margaret (Fletcher) and Oscar Weickert, at St. James Hospital in Perham, MN. As a young man, Don attended St. Henry's School until 8th grade and then attended Perham High School, graduating in 1940. Immediately after high school, Don was drafted into service, served as a Marine in World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. On Feb. 21, 1950, Don married Dorothy Mae Ranson at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham. They lived in Perham their entire lives, raising their family in faith and love. Don was employed as Controller with Tuffy's Pet Foods in Perham. He was very active in the Perham Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Don enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and flying with his friend, Bob Perry. He also spent countless hours relaxing with his family.
Don will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife, of 63 years, Dorothy, Perham, MN; by his five children along with their spouses and children, Ray and Gina Weickert, of Las Vegas, NV; Sandi (Weickert) Kollar, Perham, MN, and family, Christopher, Benjamin, Philip, Jacquelyn and Rachel; Sue and Dan Hendrickson, Verona, WI, and family, Angie and Joe, Katie and Samantha; Tami and Terry Kalina, Perham, MN, and family, Aaron and Jamie of Denver, CO, Matthew, Jacob and Nicholas; and Mark Weickert, Perham, MN, Karen and Bobby, as well as one sister, Patty Kunza.
Preceding Don in death are his parents; brothers, Jim, Laurel and John Weickert, and one sister, Marilyn Cole.
