Donald Olson

Donald Benedict Olson, age 92, of Perham, MN passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at Lakewood Care Center, Staples, MN. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Interment will be at Perham Village Cemetery following the service.

Donald started Burnsville Boy Scout Troop 598 and was the Scoutmaster for 12 years. He is an alumnus of St. Paul Murray High School. Don graduated from the University of Minnesota, general college with an Associate of Arts Degree 1952, and from the U of M, Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree 1961. Donald served in the US Army, Fort Benning, GA 1957-1958. He was a Triangle Fraternity Brother in college. Upon graduation, he was in charge of Industrial Engineering at major Twin Cities area companies 1961-1992: Control Data, Toro Mfg., Tonka Toys, Gresen Hydraulics, and Rosemount, Aero Division. He owned Olson Realty, was a caretaker for Calhoun Apartments, and managed Calhoun Condo. He retired and moved up to Ottertail in March of 2006.

Donald served at several Burnsville churches and then at Perham United Methodist Church 2006 to present. Those who knew him witnessed his friendship for others and his contagious smile. He believed in God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and that there will be a day of judgement.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Everett B. Olson and Helen (Engst) Olson, his brother Allan J. Olson and beloved wife Marilyn E. Olson. He is survived by his sons Donald J. Olson and Russell J. Olson; grandchildren Hannah E. Olson and Andrew J. Olson.
