Donald Dean Hoar, 72, Perham, MN died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham with Father James Bernauer officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 14 from 4:00 ? 8:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Burial will be Monday, October 17 at 10:30 am at Walthill Evergreen Cemetery, Walthill, NE.
Don was born to Harold and Dorothy (Nelsen) Hoar on April 22, 1933 in Walthill, NE. In 1952 Don graduated from Walthill High School and married Elizabeth "Bea" Cosgrove in Walthill, NE. Don started his lineman career with his father and brother, Bob, in high school. He then worked for Consumers Electric Power in Loop City, NE, Rural Electric Coop in Vermillion, SD, a line foreman for HD Electric in Clear Lake, SD, a line superintendent for Stanton Rural Electric in Stanton, NE, for Sherwood Medical Industries in Norfolk NE, and finally for Sheyenne Electric in Finley, ND as a Plant Engineer Manager. Don and Bea retired in 1993 at Rush Lake in Perham, MN. Family was very important to Don and he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. During the last few years he loved traveling to Texas in the winter months with his wife. He loved bowling (bowled a 300 game), football, baseball, fishing, bird hunting, and feeding his squirrels at the lake.
Don is survived by his wife, Bea; four children, David (Pat) Hoar, Norfolk, NE; Pam (Greg) Freiberg, Perham, MN; Mark (Julie) Hoar, Valley City, ND; and Paul (Rose), Gillette, WY. Six grandchildren, Julie (Pat), Dwain, Jessica, Sara (Jake), Mindy (Matt), and Shay. Seven great-grandchildren, Kaytee, Dalton, Brooke, Drake, Ty, Carter, and Zachary. A brother, Robert (Janet) Hoar, Rochester, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Wade Donald Hoar.
