Diana Lenius, age 77 of Perham, MN passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, under the care of hospice and Elk Ridge Assisted Living.
Diana Lee Wenzel was born on June 2, 1945, the oldest of two children, to Rockley and Norma (Ress) in Carroll, Iowa.
She spent the first years of her life growing up on a beef and pork farm, and attended a one-room country school in Botna, Iowa.
At age 14, her parents purchased Ryan’s Beach resort on Little McDonald Lake (renaming it Lazy Acres), and they moved to Minnesota. Diana was inducted into the National Honor Society and graduated from Perham High School in 1963. Soon after, she married Gary Lenius and had five children who were her pride and joy.
Diana retired in 2019 after almost 30 years of working in the grocery store industry, with most of those at Service Food in Perham. While there, she managed several different departments over the years and trained the new cashiers.
Diana loved her cats dearly, M&M and KitKat, and spent the last 18 years of her life with them. She also really enjoyed the M&M characters and collected their dispensers, tins, plushies, displays and many other types of items over the years.
Preceding Diana in death are her parents; and her son-in-law, Tom Tverberg. She is survived by her brother, David (Alice) Wenzel of rural Frazee; five children and seven grandchildren, Scott (Analou) Lenius [Brittni, Samantha, Angela and Andrew], Tammy (Steve) Glover [Anthony and Nathan], Penny Tverberg, Shari Lenius [Tyler] and Kari (Andrew) Gwost.
