Deborah (Debbie or Deb) Kay Dahl, age 68, passed away on October 12, 2022 at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born to Eugene and Yvonne (Umlauf) Hanson in Perham, Minnesota, on July 11, 1954. She grew up with five siblings and was surrounded by many cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. After growing up with a family that was loving, kind, valued family and God above anything, Deb chose to take those values for her own life. She had three wonderful children, Troy, Scott and Tanya. As a mother, she was loving, generous, kind, and passed on the important values to love family and God above all else.
Deb had a wonderful childhood. She loved singing songs with her dad (sometimes sitting under an apple tree and singing “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree with Anybody Else but Me”), making up games and swimming at Tenter Lake with her siblings and hanging out with cousins. Even though she chased her siblings with a broom if they got out of hand, it was never reported that she actually used it on them. Deb graduated from Perham High School in 1972. She and her family lived in a few different rental places before they settled down in their own home next to her mom and dad. Over the years, Deb worked a few different places. Her favorite was Rocky’s Resort, where she worked with family and many childhood friends. Her hobbies were drawing, gardening (even with Tanya riding on her back while she pulled weeds), watching family videos, babysitting her grandchildren, and spending time with family. Outdoor fish fries and family get togethers were always special times for Deb.
Deb is survived by her husband, Charlie; her sons, Troy and Scott (Renee); her daughter, Tanya; her grandchildren, Andrew and Isaac, Izaiah (Talia) and Grace, Ashley, Haylee and Madison; her great grandchildren, Kato and Kayden, Eli and Ayden; her mother; her sisters, Lynn (Mark) and Sheila; her brothers, Jeff and Eric (Laiz); her uncles and aunt; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Gregory; her father; and her brother, Gregory.
Thank you for celebrating Deb’s life with us.
