David Buffington

David Louis Buffington, age 78, was born in Pipestone, MN on April 3, 1942. Dave was baptized, confirmed and married at Our Saviors Lutheran in Pipestone, MN. Dave attended Pipestone High School and Mankato State University.

He met Bev Whitmer in 1961 and they were married on October 13, 1962. Dave and Bev lived in Pipestone, where they raised their family and Dave was manager of Juba’s Super Value and later opened Gannon’s Restaurant until moving to Perham, MN where he worked as night manager of Service Foods Grocery until retirement.

Dave loved fishing at the lake and when moving to Perham lived on Star Lake for many years, where he could go fishing any time day or night. He especially enjoyed the time he could spend on the lake with his children and grandchildren.

Dave passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND from natural causes.

Dave is survived by his wife Bev (Whitmer) Buffington; daughters Jill Christian (Pernell) of Sioux Falls, SD and Patti Stokke (Craig) of Frazee, MN; brother Jim Buffington (Karen); brother-in-law Curt Foreman; grandchildren Danielle Lien (Dalton), Darriean Langlie (David), Phillip Christian and Teah Stokke; and great-grandchildren Adilyn Lien, Grady Langlie and Ryder Graff.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis “Bud” and Pearl Buffington; and his sister Sandy Foreman.

A private memorial service will be held.
