Darlene Gunderson

Darlene Evalene (Erickson) Gunderson, age 80 passed peacefully surrounded by family on September 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Darlene was born September 30, 1939 at Grand Rapids, MN to Lloyd and Olive (Ellis)Erickson.

Darlene married Jon Gunderson on December 19, 1955 and they moved to Minneota, MN and then relocated to the Ottertail area in the early 1980s. They were blessed with five children. Darlene selflessly devoted her entire life to love and care of her family. She loved music and dancing. It was not uncommon for her to have music playing for everyone to hear and she may even get you to dance. Darlene was strong in her Christian faith and loved gospel music. She raised her children to love the Lord and is now in heaven, dancing with Jesus. Her smile was contagious, and you could never leave her house without a big hug. Her husband Jon would always say; “She was one of God’s best, He didn’t make anyone better than her.”

She leaves behind her husband Jon; five children Vicky Gunderson, Cathy (Tom) DeCock, Jon Gunderson, Ron (Deb) Gunderson and Stacy Montella; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters Audrey, Genevieve, and Pauline; one brother Smiley; and grandson Joshua. Darlene will be dearly missed, as she touched the hearts of everyone she met with her beautiful smile.

A family gathering will be held at a future date.
