Cheryl Harris

Cheryl A. (Richter) Harris, age 69 of Richville, MN passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at her home. 

Cheryl was born on March 27, 1955 in Sioux Falls, SD to Francis and Joyce (Mannes) Richter. She lived in Canistota, SD until age seven. She then moved to Freeborn, MN until age twelve. She graduated from Sherburn High School, Sherburn, MN, and then graduated from St. Cloud Business College in 1974. 

She worked in St. Cloud for one year and then became a nanny in New York City for a few months. She returned to St. Cloud where she resided and worked for the next 23 years. The last position she held in St. Cloud was at the Veterans Administration. 

She met Michael Harris and they married in 1994. They purchased a resort (Northern Lights Resort) on Dead Lake in Otter Tail County, MN. They owned and operated the resort for 17 years after which they retired. Cheryl and Michael continued to live on Dead Lake until Cheryl’s death. 

Cheryl became the Dead Lake Township Clerk in 2005. She continued in that position until 2023. Cheryl enjoyed computer work, reading, and boat rides. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Sara.

Visitation will be at 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA at a later date.
