Cecelia Esther Mary (Nolte) Schultz was born August 29, 1925 in North Germany Township, Wadena County, Minnesota to the late Henry C. Nolte and Louise (Polenzke) Nolte.
Ceil passed away January 6, 2017 into her loving Savior's arms at the age of 91.
Ceil was baptized September 27, 1925 at North Germany Lutheran Church, rural Sebeka, MN. She was confirmed May 19, 1940 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN.
Ceil grew up in North Germany Township, Wadena County. She enjoyed outdoor work and helping her mom care for her younger siblings Ted, Gloria and Onie. Ceil worked for various neighbors caring for their children, then moving to Wadena to work in a department store altering suits, a dry cleaner and a bakery.
Ceil married Edwin R. Schultz June 6, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sebeka. They moved to the Perham/New York Mills area where they farmed and raised their children Laureen and Dean.
Ceil was a hard worker taking on many of the farming responsibilities, from milking to baling to fieldwork, always keeping a picture perfect yard, garden and flower beds. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress. She sewed many outfits for her daughter and granddaughters. Bowling was a passion and her 160 average was maintained for years. Ceil also enjoyed many trips with family and friends.
Ceil knew she was saved through Jesus Christ and was blessed with a long life.
Ceil was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin; her brothers Orlin Nolte and Hank Nolte; and her brothers-in-law Melvin Schultz, Curtis Goldhammer and LeRoy Treibwasser.
She leaves behind her daughter Laureen (Randy) Erdmann of Roseau, MN; her son Dean (Nettie) Schultz of New York Mills; grandchildren Nichole (Jeremy) Gleason of Penock, MN, Tiffany (Aaron) Voigt of Fargo, ND, Adam (Beckie) Erdmann of Roseau and Jenny (Rob) Perala of International Falls, MN; her great-grandchildren Cora and Natalie Gleason, Isla and Paige Voigt, Ashley and Logan Erdmann and James Perala; her brother Ted (Ernie) Nolte; her sisters Gloria Triebwasser and Onie Goldhammer; sisters-in-law Henrietta Schultz, Ruth Nolte and Lois Nolte; along with a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Ceil's family would like to thank the caregivers at Prairie View Assisted Living and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Their care and compassion were greatly appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, January 11 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
