Carol Sazama passed away November 28, 2021 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.
Carol Marie Delaney was born July 21, 1947, to Joseph and Carrie (Hendrickx) Delaney. Carol was the first of 14 children and grew up on the family farm near Perham. She graduated from Perham High School in 1965.
Carol met and married the love of her life, Art Sazama in Perham. They were married for 56 years at the time of her passing. Carol and Art lived on their farm near Perham for most of those years. The union was blessed with three children: Brian (Michelle) Sazama, Jodi Sazama, and Rick (Tanya dec.) Sazama.
Carol was not only a wonderful housewife, but she also worked for many years at Pine Shelter Veterinary Clinic in Perham for Dr. Fistler and later for Dr. Rudolph. Here she gained her nickname “Doc” caring for the many animals and grooming dogs. Carol loved all animals, but especially cats. Every cat was her pet, whether it sat on her lap, or was a stray outside that she took care of. Carol was also a long-time member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Carol was very artistic and loved to draw, paint, and take pictures. She enjoyed flowers and planted many beautiful varieties around their home. If you were in her home, you could easily see she had a green thumb with house plants. Carol loved camping, riding in the ranger with Art, visiting her cabin on the Delaney farm, tropical vacations, the North Shore of Lake Superior, and Itasca State Park. Carol enjoyed listening to country music and going to concerts of some of her favorite musicians. However, Carol’s greatest love was her family; she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent many hours with them. There may have been a secret “candy cupboard” just for the kids….
Carol was greeted in Heaven by her parents Joe and Carrie Delaney; her daughter-in-law Tanya Sazama; her brother Paul Delaney; sister-in-law Diane Delaney; brother-in-law Larry Schave; Art’s parents Albert and Regina Sazama; brothers and sisters-in-law Marcy (Stanley) Silbernagel, Mike (Sandy) Sazama, Shirley Sazama, James Sazama, Arlene Silbernagel, Bill Sazama, and Duane Sazama.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Art Sazama; their children Brian (Michelle) Sazama, Jodi Sazama, and Rick Sazama; her beloved siblings Patricia (LeRoy) Peichel, Barbara (Larry, dec.) Schave, Margaret (James) Riepe, Edward (Sue) Delaney, Debra (Dave) Nebosis, Robert Delaney, Neil Delaney, Kevin (Arlene Wilkinson) Delaney, Steve Delaney, Susan (Mike) Jones, Dianne (Mike Prow) Delaney, and Joseph (Sharlene) Delaney; her grandchildren Cody (Natalie) Barry, Hunter Sazama, Elizabeth Sazama, Mason Sazama, Alex Sazama, Rhagen Sazama, Matthew Sazama, and Cassidee Sazama; her great-grandchildren Hank and Hans Barry; her brothers and sisters-in-law Charlie Silbernagel, Louie Sazama, Vicky Sazama, Ardell (Marlin) Jorgenson, Roger (Debbie) Sazama, and Cindy Sazama; along with many dear close friends.
