Beverly “Bev” Jean (Krug) Bergum, age 76 passed away peacefully at 3:17 a.m. on November 5, 2019 at the Thomas House in Perham MN. She was being cared for by the staff at the Thomas House and Hospice of the Red River Valley. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, deep love and selfless care for others.
Bev was born on September 30, 1943 in Central City, Nebraska. Her parents were Robert Krug and Lillian (Lewis) Krug. She grew up on the family farm where she learned that hard work was enjoyable when it was with her family. She learned to love the outdoors and developed her “green thumb”. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time in her gardens.
She graduated from Central City High School in 1961. After High School, she attended Mary Lanning School of Nursing in Hastings, Nebraska and obtained her Registered Nursing degree. Upon graduation, she worked at the Mary Lanning Hospital, also in Hastings. In 1976, she moved with her two boys to Central City and began her career as a Home Health Nurse. In 1979, she relocated to Perham, MN. She continued working as a home health nurse, then found her true calling as a Hospice Nurse for Lakeland Hospice. She touched many lives while taking care of people. She was a very passionate, caring and loving nurse. After retiring from hospice, she and Gary opened Autumn Manor, an assisted living facility in Perham. They operated Autumn Manor as an extension of their home, until health reasons forced them to retire.
Bev married Gary Bergum on May 18, 1990 and they resided at their home on Marion Lake in Perham. She loved hosting parties and entertaining at the lake. She especially enjoyed swimming and water sports with her grandchildren.
Bev is survived by her husband Garold “Gary” Bergum; sons Rodney Graham of Hastings, Nebraska and Randy (Melissa) Graham of Perham; siblings Marcia (Ron) Vergo of Omaha, Nebraska, Norman (Sue) Krug of Chapman, Nebraska, Sandra (John) Dreyer of Fulton, Missouri; grandchildren; Scott and Danielle Graham of Perham and Joseph Graham of Hastings; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lillian; and daughter in law Gail (Henk) Graham.
