Bernard O. Palubicki, age 87, of Perham, MN, died January 8, 2005, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Reverend James Bernauer officiating, beginning at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2005. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2005, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Bernard was born February 2, 1917, in Perham, MN, to Jacob and Mary (Mohr) Palubicki. He attended St. Henry's School in Perham and graduated from Perham High School in 1934. Bernard attended St. John?s University, Collegeville, MN, and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, before returning to Perham and starting the Red Owl Grocery Store. On September 29, 1941, Bernard was united in marriage to Esther Ann Cournia, in Crookston, MN. Together, they owned and operated the Red Owl until 1974 when they retired. In their retirement, they spent their winters down in Weslaco, TX. Esther passed away on April 23, 2000. Bernard entered the Perham Memorial Home, February 6, 2003. He was active in the Perham Chamber, Rotary Club, Perham Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving Bernard is his daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Bill Hughes, of Renton, WA; son, Richard, of Perham, MN and son and daughter-in-law, James and Nina, of Fosston, MN; eleven grandchildren, Krista, Scott, Eric, Billy, Tara, Alison, Judd, Jake, Leah, Meghan, and Jenny; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ben, Kaitlyn, Lochlan, Cody, Katie, Cade, Karsten, Natasha, Nadia, Noah, Karil, Neve and Thatcher and one sister, Vera Ryon, who also resides at the Perham Memorial Home.
Preceding Bernard in death were his parents, Jacob and Mary; wife, Esther; son, William "Billy", on June 24, 1951 and two brothers, James, on October 20, 2003 and Michael, on February 1, 1970.
Memorials may be directed to St. Henry?s Catholic School or the Alzheimers Association.
