Bernard Jerome Guck, age 70, entered eternal life on October 20, 2004, in New Mexico. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham, with Reverend David Rieder officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A time of gathering for family and friends will take place at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2004, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Bernard was born the son of Roman and Marie (Wallace) Guck, in Pine Lake Township, rural New York Mills, MN, on April 23, 1934. He graduated from New York Mills High School in 1952. On April 13, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol Dusterhoft, in Mason City, Iowa. Bernard worked in the construction business most of his life and was a longtime member of the Int. Union of Operating Engineers Local 49. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Minnesota and New Mexico. Bernard served his country for two years with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and writing poetry. Bernard loved family, friends, and especially children.
Surviving Bernard is his wife, Carol; sons, Barry, of Brooklyn Center, MN, Brad, of Plymouth, MN and Brian, of Elk River, MN; daughters, Brenda (Henry Bouillerce), of CA, Barbara (Randy Hartford), of MI, Beverly (Jim Matthews), of WA and Becky (Rick Boe), of Plymouth, MN; eleven grandchildren; stepmother, Esther Guck, of Perham, MN; brother, LeRoy, of CA and sisters, Annella (Phillip) Dorn, of AZ and Kathleen (Harold) Sunstrom, of Ottertail, MN.
Preceding Bernard in death were his parents, Roman and Marie Guck and one grandson, Dylan Matthews.
