Barry Marthaler

March 4, 1955 — March 30, 2025

Barry Joseph Marthaler, age 70, left his earthly home in Frazee, MN on Sunday, March 30, 2025, after a life fully lived in service and kindness. Barry was born March 4, 1955 in Mahnomen, MN to Bernard and Margaret (Quick) Marthaler.

Barry grew up on the family farm where he was instilled with “can-do, work-hard” ethics. He was a contractor for 50+ years and he took great pride in his work. No project was impossible and he was always learning new techniques and making new friends.

He was always up for an adventure whether it was indoor skydiving, roller coasters, ziplines, fast boat rides, tubing, challenge courses, horseback riding, ATV rides, hiking, escape rooms, or paintball. Barry also enjoyed camping, family vacations, game nights, trying new things, ham steaks, horseshoes, volleyball, gardening, dancing, and celebrating life.

Barry loved being a grandpa. He never missed a baptism, dance recital, Grandparents’ Day, choir and band concerts, volleyball and hockey tournaments, birthday parties, picnics, or a school play.

He radiated positivity and wore a smile to the very end, stating “It will be okay. God has my back.”

Barry lived a simple life filled with love, joy, and understanding. He touched so many hearts and will be dearly missed. His spirit will forever inspire those who knew him. May he rest in peace. God Bless.

Barry is forever remembered by his three children Michelle (Matthew) Marotz, Theresa Marthaler, and Nicholas (Aishelle) Marthaler; eight grandchildren Mercedes, Lexi, Macie, Madi, Hailee, Aiyana, Taylor, and Nico; one great-granddaughter Harmony; his siblings Linda Berger, Mark (Vicki) Marthaler, and Kevin Marthaler; a niece and nephews; and many other people that loved and respected him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Barry’s favorite organizations: Neighbor to Neighbor program, Frazee Fire Department, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Labre Indian School, or the Arbor Day Foundation.
