Barbara “Barb” Jo Jarchow (Rowbottom), age 79 of Perham, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 27, 2023, in the loving care of the staff at Perham Living Nursing Home.
Barb was born June 27, 1944 in St. Charles, Illinois to Jean and Robert Rowbottom of Geneva, Illinois. She grew up in Geneva and this is where she met and married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Jarchow. Throughout their marriage Barb and Bob loved to adventure together, cruises being their favorite means of travel. Together they owned and operated the Drapery Nook for several years. They moved to North Carolina where Barb worked as a nurse. While she was a nurse, Barb worked in different areas including working at St. Joseph’s, and for a knee surgeon for many years. When she wasn’t working, you would most likely find Barb out golfing. Barb always wanted to learn something new and loved a challenge. She taught herself how to use a computer, and more recently, how to use an iPhone.
Once Barb and Bob retired, they moved to Minnesota to be near her daughter, Jennifer, and her family.
Barb enjoyed so many different things, among them were traveling, shopping, sewing, quilting, and of course, “Words with Friends”, on the computer. She will be missed by many and loved forever by some. Family meant everything to Barb, and as a child her Grandma Rowbottom was very important to her.
Barb was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Bob on July 27, 2023. She is also preceded in death by parents; grandparents; and her brother, Steve Rowbottom of Wisconsin.
The family legacy she leaves behind are her three children, Jennifer (Scott) Thompson, Katie Jarchow, and John Jarchow; three grandchildren, Tyler (26) and Logan (22) Thompson and Grace (21) Jarchow, and Barb’s sister, Margaret “Peggy” Dekeyser.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
