Arlene Rae Cole, age 75, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, at 2:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, with Reverend Tom Mitchell officiating. Burial will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dent, MN. Visitation will be Saturday, January 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home.
Arlene was born on July 22, 1931 in Sherburn, MN, the daughter of Milo and Sylvia (Peters) Lucas. She graduated from Sherbrun High School and continued her education at Mankato State University earning her teaching certificate. Arlene taught one year in Mankato before moving to Kankakee, IL. While living in Kankakee, she met, and on June 1, 1957, married Donald H. Cole, Sr. In 1997 Donald and Arlene moved back to Minnesota and made their home in Dent. Donald passed away on May 31, 2002. After the death of her husband, Arlene moved into Perham and opened her dream shop, The Pink Piglett. She loved all kinds of stuffed animals and taught herself to sew and create many of the items available in her shop. She also collected pig statues and stuffed pigs, which she had over 200.
Arlene is survived by her son, Donald Jr., Manteno, IL; her daughter, Cynthia Sue Miller, Perham, MN; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, and an infant sibling.
