Archie Smith

Archie A. Smith, age 103, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home, Perham. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2007, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Perham Memorial Nursing Home with Pastor Tom Mitchell officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, ND, in the spring. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.



Archie was born November 7, 1903 in Elizabeth Township, rural Fergus Falls, MN, one of seven sons of Alva and Matilda (Stahl) Smith. He attended country school near Fergus Falls with his brothers. Archie farmed most of his life in the Everdale, Foxhome, and Battle Lake, MN, areas. He then moved onto a farmsite in Ottertail City, MN. After retiring, Archie moved into Perham. He loved hunting, fishing, bingo, and especially Spam. On his 100th birthday, the Hormel Company sent Archie a whole case of Spam.



Archie is survived by many nieces and nephews.



Archie is preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers, Samuel, William, Ernest, Edward, Earl, and Harry.
