Anthony Watermulen

Anthony "Tony" Cornelius Van Watermulen, age 58, of Perham, MN, died Monday, November 6, 2006, at the Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2006, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will be in the MN State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls, MN, Monday, November 13. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 8, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, and also one hour prior to services at the funeral home.



Tony was born August 7, 1948, in Petaluma, CA, the son of Charles and Anna (Hofland) Van Watermulen. He was one of 13 children. As a child, Tony moved with his family to Butler, MN, and then on to Perham, MN, where he graduated high school in 1966. He attended Wadena Tech, Wadena, MN, from 1966-68 studying Auto Mechanics. Tony was drafted into the US Army from 1969-71 serving in the Vietnam War in Korea. He returned to Perham where he drove semi for Tuffy's from 1972-83. On September 1, 1973, Tony was married to Renee Holzer in St. Henry's Catholic Church. In 1979 Tony was self-employed with his landscaping and snow removal business. Then, with two friends, he started a sewer service business. He took a lot of pride in his accomplishments. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and tell jokes.



Tony entered Emmanuel Nursing Home in December 2005 where he spent his time playing jokes on the nurses, making new friends, and rekindling his relationship with his family.



Tony is survived by his wife, Renee, Perham, MN; four daughters, Shawna (David) Shaw, Fargo, ND; Tory (Michael Anderson) Van Watermulen, Dent, MN; Tina Van Watermulen, St. Cloud, MN; and Sara (Josh Loeffen) Van Watermulen, Detroit Lakes, MN; granddaughter, MaKaden; step-grandson, Rylan; and eleven brothers and sisters.



Tony is preceded in death by his mother, father, step-mother, and a brother.
