Anna Matz

Funeral services for Anna Emma Matz, age 91, of Perham, MN, will be Monday, December 29, 2003, at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, rural Perham, MN, beginning at 2:00 p.m. , with Reverend Del Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation aa Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2003, with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Ann died December 25, 2003 at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home.



Ann was born September 10, 1912, in Corliss Township, rural Perham, MN, the daughter of William and Julia Anna (Schultz) Hinz. During her youth, she attended and completed her education at a country school in Corliss Township. After completing her education, Ann continued to reside with her parents on the family farm until June 1935.



On June 18, 1935, Ann married Reuben Matz and helped maintain a family farming operation for the next fifty-two years. In 1991, Reuben passed away and Ann moved into an apartment in Perham, MN, where she resided until February 2003 when deteriorating health required her to move to the Perham Memorial Home. Ann enjoyed her time at the Home and was very appreciative of the efforts of the staff, residents and her roommate.



Ann was a lifelong member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Corliss Township and a long-standing member of the Mary and Martha Society. In addition, she also taught Sunday School and served on various committees. She was known for her hospitality and keen sense of humor. Ann enjoyed gardening, embroidery work and socializing with her friends.



Surviving Ann is her son, Eldon (Betty) Matz, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one grandson, David (Michelle) Matz, of Bloomington, MN and two sisters-in-law, Erna Rader, of Perham, MN and Laura Schave, of Menagha, MN as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends who mourn her death.



Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reuben; four brothers and three sisters.
