Allen Herman Rusche, age 101 of Perham, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 29, 2024.
Allen was born to Henry and Ada (Haufschild) Rusche on November 22, 1922, in Bancroft, SD. He was the youngest of eight children.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Bancroft and graduated from Bancroft High School. Allen lived and worked on farms in the Bancroft area before he joined his parents in rural Perham in 1940. He then farmed with his parents, although at one point he did live and work in the Twin Cities for Minneapolis Moline. Allen enjoyed spending time on the lake during those years, waterskiing and fishing.
Allen met Arlene Doris Ziegler and they later married on January 12, 1957 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham. They raised three children: Mark, Ronald, and Rhonda. Allen and Arlene purchased their farm in Perham Township in 1964. Allen was a dairy farmer as well as raising hogs, chickens, and crops. He was known by family and neighbors for always having straight corn rows. Allen also liked to have John Deere equipment on his farm.
When Allen retired, in the early 2000s, he and Arlene moved into the family home in Perham. Most recently, he enjoyed growing sunflowers as well as some vegetables.
Surviving Allen are his son, Mark; daughter, Rhonda; his sister-in-law, Luella (Norman) Breitenfeldt; sister-in-law, Helen Ziegler; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene in 2023; his son, Ronald; and his siblings William, Mae, Harold, Doris, Ruth, Edmond, and Arnold.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 on Monday, July 8, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
