Alfred "Sonny" Alberts, age 79, of Ottertail, MN, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at St. Mary's Regional Hospital, Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be Friday, December 23, 2005 at 1:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham. Reverend Terry Grzybowski will officiate with burial following in the Perham Village Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 22, from 5:00 ? 8:00 pm.
Sonny was born July 31, 1926 in Perham, MN, the son of Alfred and Ida (Walk) Alberts. He was the oldest of six children. On January 18, 1949 he was married to Carolyn Strand. Sonny was best known as a fishing guide and trapper. He enjoyed entertaining his six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous friends with fantastic tales of yesteryear.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Toots", of 56 years, Ottertail, MN; daughter, Sue (Bruce) Kallestad, Blaine, MN; sons, Bud (Jane) Alberts, Bellvue, WA; and Brian (Lisa) Alberts, Ottertail, MN; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin (Marie) Walk, Ottertail, MN; and Melburn (Mary) Walk, Ogema, MN; two sisters, Myrtel (Edgar) Hinz, Bismarck, ND; and Marcella (Mickey) Lawson, Wadena, MN.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Merle Walk and a nephew, Randy Walk.
