Adeline Agnes (Van Watermulen) Dykhoff, age 84 of Perham, MN passed away on December 24th, 2024 at Northwinds Memory Care at Perham Living. Despite her memory loss she was always gracious with those around her and had a welcoming smile for her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Adeline was born on January 3rd, 1940 in Butler Township to Charles and Anne (Hofland) Van Watermulen. She was the third oldest of their thirteen children. The family lived in the Butler area until 1947 when they moved to California. After three years, they moved back to rural Perham. Adeline graduated from Perham High School in 1957.
Adeline was united in marriage to Lawrence Dykhoff on May 8th, 1958 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Perham. They made their home in rural Perham at St. Joe’s Corner. They were married 63 years and raised five children. She was a loving and supportive wife and mother. She showed her love with her actions and was always willing to help in any way.
Adeline had great ingenuity and creativity at solving most any problem. She was an incredibly skilled seamstress and made custom clothing for her family and others. She enjoyed deer hunting and ice fishing with family. Lawrence and Adeline spent many years camping with their children and grandchildren creating treasured memories. She was a loving and patient grandmother and took pleasure in time spent with her grandchildren who have fond memories of baking bread and playing games with her.
Adeline retired from United Community Bank after 25 years. During their retirement, Lawrence and Adeline enjoyed the winter months at their Texas home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Dykhoff. Adeline is survived by her five children Kevin (Jerri) Dykhoff of Perham, Bryan (Lynette) Dykhoff of Delano, MN, Pam (Ken) Guck of Perham, Brenda (Joseph) Steffl of St. Michael, MN, and Jana (Jim) Rutherford of Darwin, MN; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings Larry Van Watermulen, Leonard Van Watermulen, Marian Thompson, Ed Van Watermulen, Ken Van Watermulen, Yvonne Hennen, and Allen Van Watermulen.
