Edwin Albert Lenius, age 97, of Perham died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Perham Living. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 beginning at 11:00 AM in St Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 20 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham from 4:00 - 8:00 PM with prayer service at 6 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Edwin was born on June 30, 1916 at the Perham Hospital in Perham, MN to Albert and Agatha (Flatau) Lenius. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, MN. Edwin was raised and attended school in Hobart Township. Edwin was united in marriage to Helen Ogroske on October 14, 1940. They ran a dairy farm for 30 years in Edna Township. In 1971 they moved to the north shore of Little McDonald Lake and started to build and acquire rental properties. Edwin loved to travel. His travels took him as far north as the Arctic Circle, south to the equator, west to the Great Wall of China and East to Europe, the pyramids of Egypt and the Holy Land.
Surviving Edwin are his five children: Gary (Marge) Lenius, Two Harbors, MN; Warren (Sylvia) Lenius, Winnipeg, Canada; Mark (Barb) Lenius, Perham, MN; Alice (David) Wenzel, Frazee, MN; and Beth (Ted) Rose, Henning, MN; sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Preceding Edwin in death are his wife, Helen, his parents, a brother, Harold Lenius, and a sister, Evelyn Gravely.
